Stewarding informal learning

Given all the attention paid lately to informal learning, you’ve probably seen pie charts like the one on the right. Formal learning’s a sliver of most workers’ lives, so it makes sense to devote time and resources to supporting informal learning opportunities.

Dianna Rees published a summarizing article on the importance of informal learning, and how the learning developer fits in. Learning developers are working at the organizational level, rather than on the level of informal learning itself, to steward, support and leverage learning.
